Drink more water, your body NEEDs it!
Yes, I know you’ve heard this a million times and you’ve ignored it about 90% of the time when you heard that statement. How many times did you drink sodas and sweetened drinks, instead of drinking water? I’ll let you sit on that thought for a minute…about 60% of your body is composed of water. Yes, over SIXTY percent! You can’t fight medically proven facts. You blood contains about 92% water, your kidneys hold about 70% water and your bones are composed of about 31% water. Water has different functions for your various organs, at times acting a thermal regulator and at times carrying nutrients; while eliminating toxins!
Do you know which organ is the largest organ which will consume the largest portion of water?
If you guessed your skin than you were right! Your skin contains approximately 64% water! Our skin is meant to protect us and regulate our bodie’s temperature. The skin regulates the body water content by controlling transepidermal water loss; which in essence is the transferring of water from within our bodies to the outside from the skin’s top most layer. Our skin also blocks water permeation from the outside. Skin which is deficient in water, will become dry, tight, itchy, as well as flaky! Dehydrated skin is more prone to develop wrinkles.
Your skin can become dehydrated in two different ways: by not drinking enough water and by excessive water loss. Along with increasing your water intake, skincare professionals recommend that you moisturize your skin adequately on a daily basis. Be sure to use moisturizers that use these active ingredients: humectants, emollients, and occlusive. When selecting skincare products make sure it contains a combination of humectants, emollients, and occlusive ingredients that can help maintain the need to moisturize to keep your skin looking youthful and healthy!
